Golden Visa

Allows foreign investors to obtain Portuguese citizenship through a minimum investment of €500,000.

What is the RCBI program?

A program that provides investors with a residency permit in Portugal, as well as free access to the Schengen Area for the investor and their close family members.

Eligibility can be obtained through a minimum capital transfer of €500,000 for the acquisition of participation units in non-real estate investment funds.

What does it offer investors?

  1. Portuguese residency for 5 years with minimum relocation requirements (7–14 days/year).
  2. Possibility of obtaining a permanent residency permit after 5 years.
  3. Family reunification for family members: Spouse; Children under 18 years old; Children over 18 years of age who are financially dependent on the investor; Siblings under the age of 18 of the investor or his/her spouse/husband; Dependent parents (over 55 years of age).

What are the requirements?

Funds registered under Portuguese law and regulated by the CMVM.

Minimum capital transfer of €500,000.

Minimum maturity of five years for investment in the fund.

At least 60% of the investment in companies based in Portuguese territory.

Any non-EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen making an eligible investment in Portugal.

Minimum stay in Portugal of at least 7 days in the first year of issuance and 14 days in each subsequent two-year period.

Hold the investment for a minimum of five years.

Have no criminal record.

Copy of a passport and valid travel documents.

Declaration of Cedrus Capital as the fund management entity.

Bank statement confirming the transfer of funds.

Health insurance certificate in Portugal.

Certified copy of criminal record.

Form authorising the authorities to obtain your Portuguese criminal record.

Statement confirming compliance with investment requirements.

Receipt proving payment of the registration fee.

Investment and Citizenship Process

Decide on an investment option 
Namely investing in a Private Equity fund. Prepare supporting documents.

Obtain Portuguese Tax Number (NIF) 
Open Portuguese bank account. Transfer funds to a Portuguese bank account.

Subscribe Fund and transfer capital from the Portuguese bank account 
Submit the pre-application to AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum) for the temporary residence card followed by a meeting at AIMA's office to submit the Application and submit biometric data.

Golden Visa approval and payment of issuance fees 
Issuance of the Golden Visa card valid for one year, renewal in years 3 and 5 required.

Application in year 5 for the definitive residence card and/or citizenship 
Obtaining Portuguese citizenship after the 6th grade and upon compliance with the requirements.
